We are back at school – and we couldn’t be more excited! Starting in September, over 9000 students will have access to a new teacher. Teach For Armenia Fellows are placed in 86 schools to teach across Armenia and Artsakh.

Larisa Hovannisian, Founder and CEO of Teach For Armenia, says,  “September 1st is the Day of Knowledge in Armenia and the start of the school year. On this day, we want to wish all students in Armenia a successful academic year. We are excited to partner with all the amazing schools, principals, and teachers across the regions and play our role in bringing educational equity to all children.”

These Fellows are highly-qualified young professionals who have committed two years to serve as teachers and leaders in underserved communities. After an intensive training program and facilitating a Summer School in Stepanavan, these Fellows are now starting a two-year journey to bring educational equity and access to the nation’s regions. These new Fellows join 42 other Fellows currently serving as teachers in different communities that have been identified as experiencing shortages of teachers and lacking in educational resources.

104 current Teach For Armenia Fellows not only teach in schools but are part of the communities they live in. These Fellows will serve as educators, leaders, and role models for children across the nation.

Teach For Armenia is currently in its fourth year of placement of highly-qualified recruits. The first and second cohorts of Fellows have completed their commitment and many of these 42 individuals are continuing to work in the education sector. The third cohort is halfway through their two-year commitment, and these 42 individuals are currently teaching subjects as diverse as Armenian to Physics and Math. They are helping to implement various community development projects.

Teach For Armenia envisions an Armenia where all children, regardless of their socioeconomic circumstances, have the opportunity to unlock their full potential through an excellent education. We work to create long-lasting change and catalyze a nationwide movement of impact-driven leaders expanding educational opportunity to all children in Armenia. The Fellowship is not just a two-year teaching program; it is a movement to develop and encourage the young leaders of Armenia to advocate for our nation’s future.
