REIMAGINING TEACHER PREPARATION

Armenia is facing a teacher shortage crisis. Each year, there are more than 600 teaching vacancies across the nation’s public schools with critical subjects going unfilled year after year in rural communities. That is why Teach For Armenia is committed to finding innovative solutions by creating new pathways for individuals to enter the teaching profession.

Additionally, we recognize that teachers working in rural Armenia and Artsakh have unique needs given the challenges of working in remote areas of the country. We must reimagine teacher training and support for individuals who have committed to work in mountainous and border communities.

Since 2015, Teach For Armenia has supported hundreds of teachers to work in some of the most remote communities in Armenia and Artsakh while providing them with robust professional development and ongoing coaching.

For these reasons, Teach For Armenia is excited to provide two course offerings to individuals who join our two-year Program:

1) A 30-CREDIT CERTIFICATE

2) A MASTER’S IN TEACHER LEADERSHIP AT YEREVAN STATE UNIVERSITY
(A TOP UNIVERSITY ACCORDING TO QS WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKINGS).

 30-CREDIT CERTIFICATE

In 2022, the government of Armenia passed a new law allowing accredited organizations to issue teaching certificates through a 30-credit course. The certificate allows recipients to fill critical vacancies in Armenia’s public schools located in high-mountainous and border communities.

Teach For Armenia received approval from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports to issue a 30-Credit Certificate through its intensive summer training (also known as our “Teacher Leadership Academy”).

At present, our 30-credit course is available to everyone who joins our Program. We start accepting applications every October, and the final deadline to apply is in April.
