DATA-DRIVEN
DECISION-MAKING

Teach For Armenia prides itself in being a data-driven organization. Over the years, we have invested heavily in developing the necessary internal systems in order to monitor and evaluate the holistic student outcomes that we are achieving in our communities. To learn more about how Teach For Armenia reports on data, see our Annual Reports:

TEACH FOR ARMENIA’S COMMITMENT TO RESEARCH

To further deepen our insights, Teach For Armenia is also partnering with the School of Education and Information Studies at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in order to conduct an external study, the #1 ranked graduate school of education in the United States. Together, we are determining the extent to which Teach For Armenia’s two-year Teacher Leadership Program (a.k.a. “Program”) has an impact on holistic student outcomes, including leadership development, community innovation, as well as academic achievement. This study is going to help us ensure that we continuously increase our effectiveness so that our students accelerate their development as leaders and change-makers.

PUBLIC POLICY LAB

Furthermore, in order to achieve system-wide transformation, at Teach For Armenia we believe that we must cultivate the next generation of policy advocates and policymakers who will make locally relevant decisions that are informed by global best practices.

For that reason, our Public Policy Lab Fellowship aims to groom Teach For Armenia’s alumni (i.e. individuals who have completed the Program) to be leaders in the field of public policy and research for topics that intersect with our vision and mission as well as the national priorities. Through a cohort experience, a select number of Teach For Armenia’s alumni will work with leading experts in order to cultivate the skills necessary to write policy recommendations that can be adapted and adopted by the governments of Armenia and Artsakh. Through the program, participants will learn how to:

EXAMINE CASE STUDIES FROM AROUND THE WORLD SO THAT RECOMMENDATIONS ARE GLOBALLY INFORMED

COLLECT AND ANALYZE DATA FROM OUR LOCAL CONTEXT IN ORDER TO INFORM LOCALLY RELEVANT POLICY DECISIONS

CONSULT WITH GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS, STAKEHOLDERS, EXPERTS, AND BENEFICIARIES IN ORDER TO PROVIDE RECOMMENDATIONS THAT ARE RESPONSIVE TO THE REALITY

WRITE COMPREHENSIVE POLICY PROPOSALS THAT RIGOROUSLY SITE RESEARCH AND EVIDENCE

INFLUENCE AND MOTIVATE INSTITUTIONS TO INCORPORATE POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS

The Public Policy Lab Fellowship is a 6-month paid part-time opportunity. Fellows will receive a stipend of AMD 200,000 (gross) per month for their participation in the program, and they can expect to devote approximately 10-20 hours per week.

PHD SCHOLARSHIP

In addition to the Public Policy Lab Fellowship, Teach For Armenia is also offering a scholarship opportunity for its alumni to pursue a PhD in Pedagogy at Yerevan State University or Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan. The aim of the program is to encourage talented and committed educators to deepen their understanding of educational best practices in order to advocate for system-wide changes.

The tuition for the scholarship recipients will be fully funded by Teach For Armenia for a period of 3 years. Additionally, during this period, scholarship recipients will also receive a monthly stipend of AMD 200,000 (gross).

During the 3-year program, our scholars will pursue their doctoral degrees while also supporting the development and implementation of Teach For Armenia’s Master’s in Teacher Leadership ( a course that is taught jointly with the faculty of Yerevan State University) and the Public Policy Lab.

After completing the PhD program, scholarship recipients will commit to continue working with Teach For Armenia on a part-time or full-time basis for a period of 5 years (including the doctoral study period) as curriculum designers, trainers, or instructional coaches through the organization’s various programs.
