IT ALL STARTED WITH ONE SCHOOL...

In the fall of 2020, Teach For Armenia launched the Seroond pilot in Takhta Primary School with four full-time teachers reaching 47 students. Within the matter of two months, the number of enrolled students nearly doubled. One year later, the school is home to more than 100 students, and the program has since expanded to four additional schools: Ijevan Gymnasium, Nerkin Karmiraghbyur Secondary School, and Alaverdi Basic School N. 10 after M. Tandilyan. In total, the program is now engaging over 75 teachers impacting more than 400 learners.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP

By leveraging Change-Based Learning as well as Social-Emotional Learning, we cultivate student leadership through a holistic approach to education. Seroond’s methodology upholds Teach For Armenia’s commitment to Our 2050 Promise, central to the organization's Kochari.

TEACHER LEADERSHIP

All existing teachers in a school can apply to become “Seroond Teachers'' through a 3-year training program. Meanwhile, we place 2+ Teach For Armenia alumni in the school to serve as teacher coaches.

SCHOOL LEADERSHIP

In partnership with the principal and regional government, we place a Seroond Leadership Development Manager in the school building in order to oversee the implementation of the 3-year program.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP in ACTION

The fourth graders at the Takhta school saw an issue with the plastic bags littering the beautiful, mountainous landscape surrounding their homes. As a result, Seroond supported the youth to lead an initiative, turning recycled materials into reusable bags to promote sustainability and reduce waste.
